Yellow Car Spots

I was out cleaning the cars yesterday and noticed little yellow spots all over my better half's White Mazda 3.  They look like little rust spots, you can see them in the picture about.  When I looked really closely at mine I could see a couple of very small spots like this as well but her car had dozens of them all over the lower half of her doors.  I posted on autos.ca for their advice and was directed to this thread:

I decided to buy some of the TRIX product mentioned in the article, I will let you know how it works out.  The clay bar route seemed like a lot of work and potential for disaster. Apparently the spots are iron particles that get embedded in the paint from transportation and other various sources and need to be separated from the paint for proper removal.  This can be taken care of with a good paint sealant / wax like the Poorboys EX-P Sealant I applied yesterday (see yesterdays post).  The spots are most notable on white paint but are actually on most cars that are not protected.

Shiny Optima Update!!!

After some advice from my autos.ca buddies I bought some PoorBoys EX-P Paint Sealant from EShine to make the Optima looks its shiny best, you can find the item here:

The item was shipped quickly and arrived in our mailbox within about a week.

It did a great job, took about an hour to complete after a really good cleaning and you can see the results below.  I used about 1/4 of the bottle and it was fairly easy to put on with a small sponge type applicator slightly dampened.  You easily wipe it off after it dries to a haze with a soft cloth.  I might do another coat next week if it is nice, according to the detail experts you can put two or even three coats of this on top of one another to make a super shine and protective coating on the paint.  You can really feel the difference in the smoothness and shine of the paint.  I will probably do another full application in the late fall to protect my baby over the winter.

I would really recommend this product, especially if you have a new car and you need some good paint protection.

Houston I still have a problem

So, it's been two weeks so I called them today about the paint problem....

They told me the warranty manager has been off the past two weeks so the pictures have not gone to Kia Canada yet.... and they have 10 other people like me waiting, which doesn't make me any happier.  They say I will definitely hear by the end of next week.  Now when I first went in they told me it could take up to two weeks once it went to Kia, but DID NOT mention the two week wait for the pictures to get out of their own dealership.

SO how much of a fuss should I make about this or should I wait to see the verdict maybe next week???

I love the car but already hate the dealership...

Houston - I have a problem....

SO I was driving the weekend, peered out my window and noticed what looked like RUST on the leading edge of the car hood.  I went over to Kia today, they took some pictures and said it could take up to 2 weeks to hear back from Kia Canada as to whether or not it is covered under warranty.  I have no idea when the paint chipping happened but if it is rusting I am worried it was done before I bought the car and now they won't cover it.

It is a pain that I have to wait two weeks and I am pi$$ed that somehow I have paint chipped off.  The Kia lady commented that it could have been an ice scraper but I wouldn't have been scraping the hood of my car!  I have a feeling this will not go well..... but I will keep you updated.  Has anyone ever had paint problems like this???

Keep in mind the vehicle in only 7 weeks old.  This is the view as if you were looking out the front window.

2012 Kia Optima

Kia now has the 2012 Optima on their website, the msrp is $50 less than the 2011 but there is no discount available whereas the 2011 has $1000 off ($750 when I bought mine).  I noticed the local dealership only has a  few 2011's left on the lot.  The 2012's still have the 0% financing and 90 days no payments, they also have this deal where you get $100 if you test drive an Optima and then buy another vehicle.... I can only imagine the red tape surrounding that deal.

Anyway it looks like they revamped the website and it looks pretty good now, I think they have my exact car on the Optima page now, check it out: http://www.kia.ca/pages/showroom/overview.aspx?model=Optima

Also, as a funny story I was stopped to pick my kid up from school today and some guy got out and took a picture of my car.... of course I loved it.

I am going to see if there are any new deals out there for April from other companies, stay tuned.

Just as a point of interest, check out the ice here today!!!
